Our Purpose

Our Vision

Our Vision is to keep hopes and dreams alive as well as empower and challenge justice-involved, our military veterans, and the disenfranchised to take responsibility for their actions and consequences.

Our Mission

Our mission is to provide pre- and post-release workshops focused on employment, personal growth, and professional development. We support justice-involved individuals, military veterans, and the disenfranchised as they enhance existing knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA), gain new ones, and take meaningful steps toward long-term success. Our goal is to help individuals reenter society with confidence, purpose, and the tools they need to build a better future.

Our programs take a pro-social worldview and advanced curriculum to develop character, leadership, and empowerment as participants are taught the skills necessary to secure meaningful employment and the tools to advance.

What makes 2nd Chance University’s recidivism reduction programs effective…

Foremost, we understand the importance of evolving respect with each participant in an understanding and identifiable method. To achieve best results, our programs take advantage of multiple learning styles, including visual, auditory, kinesthetic, verbal, solitary, and social methods.

We offer brick and mortar as well as online platforms where every lesson is guided by doing, not just learning. Curriculum, length, complexity, and participant expectations are customized and based upon institutional requirements, demographic needs, and goals. In other words, no projects are the same in content, duration, or intent.

Areas of concentration:

Personal development / trauma informed care

  • Employer onboarding / looking glass self-theory
  • Community onboarding / looking glass self-theory
  • Professional development / certified career mentorship
  • Freedom for today and tomorrow / relationship building
  • Action and consequences / behavioral modification theory
  • Conflict resolution and management / behavioral modification theory
  • Collective consciousness / exercises in empathy and social understanding

Methodologies:

Triangulation for 360 degree understanding

  • Journal writing, affirmations, and visualization
  • Self-paced with daily activities and mentorship
  • Relationship building, community, staff, and self
  • Recognition and confidence every step of the way
  • Proponents of belief, self-esteem, and the ability to forgive
  • Vicarious learning, identifying with others in their stories and success

2nd Chance University does not allow participants to aim low. We believe everyone has the capacity to keep HOPE alive with proper direction.

Committed to eliminating convict recycling, we are currently seeking partnerships with like-minded institutions.

2nd Chance University developed a longitudinal method to measure Commitment, Hope, and Empowerment progression. (the Che Quotient)
